On the first day of the Salon International de l'Agriculture (SIA) 2024, Jeanne-Marie ROBERT (Food & Health, 2017, Beauvais), host at Merci les Algues, had the honor of meeting French President Emmanuel Macron and Hervé Berville, Secretary of State for the Sea. The meeting was an opportunity to highlight the challenges and achievements of the algae industry, not only in terms of food, but also sustainable agriculture.

Faced with environmental and food challenges, the use of algae represents a promising solution. Indeed, these marine organisms offer an innovative alternative to the various problems encountered in the agricultural sector.

At a time when agricultural sustainability and profitability are key concerns, integrating seaweed into farming practices appears to be a promising way forward.

Algae offer a multitude of advantages. Their use not only enriches soils with essential nutrients, but also reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, helping to preserve biodiversity and limit the environmental impact of agriculture. What's more, seaweed is a valuable source of nutrients for the human diet, offering a healthy and sustainable alternative to conventional products.
